What we do
You enter a 17-character VIN (or a US licence plate and state). We pull the vehicle's history from national vehicle-history databases and show it to you in seconds: reported accidents and damage, title brands such as salvage, rebuilt, flood and lemon, odometer readings over time with rollback detection, open safety recalls, service and maintenance records, and ownership and registration events. You can read it on screen, save it as a PDF, and a copy goes to your email.
Alongside the paid report we run free tools that read what the VIN itself encodes: a VIN decoder, a window-sticker lookup, make-specific decoders for Ford, Toyota, Porsche and Mercedes-Benz, a payment calculator, a cost-of-ownership calculator and a browser extension that checks VINs while you browse listings.
Who it's for
- Private buyers checking one car before a test drive or a deposit. One report, $5.99, done.
- Dealers, wholesalers and flippers who run a VIN on every trade-in, auction lot and Marketplace lead. Monthly plans bring the cost to between $1.30 and $1.95 a report, with credits that roll over a month. Have a run list? The bulk VIN check runs up to 25 VINs at once and flags title brands, accidents and odometer problems per car.
- Sellers who want to show a clean history up front and close faster.
What we are not
AutoVINReveal is an independent provider. We are not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by CARFAX, Inc.; CARFAX® is a registered trademark of CARFAX, Inc., and we refer to it only to compare prices and coverage. We are not a dealer, we do not sell cars, and a report never includes a current owner's name or address.
Our guarantees
If a report cannot be generated for a VIN, you are not charged — any credit taken is refunded automatically. If you buy a single report and are not satisfied, email us within 30 days with the VIN and the email address you used at checkout and we refund it in full. The details are in our Terms of Service.
How we write the guides
The guides on this site are written and maintained by the AutoVINReveal team from public sources — NHTSA recall and VIN data, state title rules, manufacturer service bulletins — and from the patterns we see across the reports we deliver. Every article carries its publication date. If you spot an error, email us and we will correct it.
